Projects for employees and the community

We are committed to improving the wellbeing of society and support numerous social projects in Switzerland and abroad, for example running events for our employees, collaboration with the Red Cross and supporting schools in Tanzania and India.

Swiss Red Cross


Partner: SRK
Content: Coop has been involved in a partnership with the Swiss Red Cross since 1997 in order to provide people in need with fast and unbureaucratic assistance. This cooperation was stepped up in 2015.
The following projects are supported: Families platform, 2 x Christmas, Grittibänz fund-raising campaign, donations for emergency aid and rebuilding following disasters abroad.

bioRe projects

Content: Promoting and supporting social projects in the fields of training, health and nutrition for about 5,000 bioRe cotton producers and their families in India and Tanzania.

Schweizer Tafel and Tischlein deck dich

Content: Coop donates food products that are in perfect condition and still fit for consumption to the food redistribution charities Schweizer Tafel and Tischlein deck dich. These organizations fairly distribute the leftover food products to institutions such as homeless shelters. Coop also provides crucial financial backing to Schweizer Tafel and Tischlein deck dich.

Content: Coop supports practice-oriented business training programmes for students with the aim of creating links between businesses and schools, and presents a sustainability award for young entrepreneurs.

Content: During one-day workshops at schools, young freestyle athletes and nutrition professionals inspire children and young people to engage in exercise and to eat healthy, seasonal food.

Content: Free events, sport camps, parents' evenings, continuing education for teachers, and teaching materials serve to motivate children in a fun way to eat a balanced, healthy diet and to engage in sport as an enriching and enjoyable leisure-time activity.
