We pay attention to climate protection in the manufacture of our products. Our Oecoplan products are energy-efficient and help to save energy. And our customers also have a major impact on the climate by making conscious choices when shopping.
Electronic devices and lamps consume a lot of electricity - even in stand-by mode. Buying energy-saving appliances is an obvious choice. Not only for the good of the environment, but also for the sake of your own wallet, because consuming less energy doesn't have to mean doing without. Modern electronic appliances are much more energy-efficient than previous models - and in some cases perform better. We prove this with our own brands Oecoplan and Satrap. Household appliances from these brands occupy top positions in Topten, the independent platform for consumers looking for energy-efficient products.
The energy label for numerous household appliances makes saving energy even easier. You can recognise at a glance how efficiently an appliance works and how much electricity it needs. It is even easier if you look out for the Topten seal of quality before purchasing electrical appliances. In 2016, we brought energy-efficient appliances with the Topten seal of quality into Swiss households for a total of CHF 148 million.
There are also major savings to be made on light bulbs. We have no longer been selling frosted light bulbs since 2009. With our wide range of LEDs, we ensure that energy savings of up to 80 per cent are possible. We completely revised the range in 2016. We completely replaced energy-saving light bulbs with the newer, even more energy-efficient LED light sources and greatly expanded the range of energy-efficient light sources.
With the densest network of sales outlets in Switzerland, we enable customers to do their shopping by public transport, bike or on foot. If you use a car, you should ideally plan to do your bulk shopping once a week to reduce CO2e emissions. We also offer an efficient delivery service with coop.ch. We take responsibility for the CO2e emissions caused by our delivery service and invest in climate protection projects.
